Liberals aren’t exactly huge fans of the men and women in uniform who willingly take to the streets each and every day to defend our communities, risking their lives to keep us safe.
This is evidenced by the narrative left-wing media and clueless Black Lives Matter supporters continually push at the public, painting cops as evil, vile racists who just can’t wait to ice a minority.
That being said, it’s not surprising in the slightest to hear about a progressive professor trashing police, yet this latest comment is so egregious it still manages to make the blood boil.
An “educator” at Cal State called modern police forces “slave catchers.”
And yet Republicans are the deplorables?
The College Fix is reporting, At a Cal State Fullerton conference yesterday on “intersectionality” and discrimination, a professor and Black Lives Matter organizer said that today’s police officers are the “slave catchers” of prior generations.According to the Daily Titan, Cal State Los Angeles’s Melina Abdullah told those in attendance “You literally have a target on your back. That is what policing was founded on and that is what it evolved out of. So the former slave catchers or paddy rollers, they were called slave patrols.”
Those old slave patrols, she said, evolved into today’s “patrolmen,” and thus important “because the roots of the police go deep.”It’s also why she believes in the abolition of police departments.
A professor of Pan-African Studies, Abdullah’s bio says she is a “womanist scholar-activist – understanding the role that she plays in the academy as intrinsically linked to broader struggles for the liberation of oppressed people.”
Abdullah’s no stranger to stirring up trouble with clueless comments, like the one she made about political commentator Ben Shapiro being a “neo-KKK member.”
Shapiro is Jewish, so you can see how such a statement would be utterly offensive and quite repulsive, which seems to be an area in which the professor excels.
One has to wonder how she’d feel about police officers if she actually got her way and all departments across the country were abolished, leaving no one to protect our communities?
Are there bad cops? Of course. Those who abuse their power need to be held accountable for their actions.
But you can bet if Prof. Abdullah were ever in danger, she’d be damn glad to have a police officer on her side. That’s if they’d show up to protect her…
