Whenever a mass shooting or radical Islamic terror attack unfolds on American soil, the tragedy is immediately met by cries from the left for gun control and limits to be placed on the constitutional right to bear arms. Of course, this ignores the actual core problem that keeps these incidents occurring over and over again.
We’ve witnessed this once again after the Orlando shooting earlier this week, as Democrats stood on the Senate floor, not furious at ISIS or radical Islam, but angry that folks in this country still possess the Second Amendment right to own a gun for their own protection.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz delivered a speech responding to this insanity, and he absolutely hits it out of the park.
If you have some extra free time, you can watch the rest of the speech below:
It’s been said a billion times, and it’ll likely be said a billion more in the future, but the greatest threat to our national security is not an inanimate object used for self-defense. It’s radical Islamic terrorism. No, the problem isn’t the Second Amendment; it’s individuals inspired by a hate-filled ideology that instructs them to force the world to accept Islam, pay a humiliating tax, or be put to death.
Whether we like it or not, whether we want to admit it or not, Islam is most certainly at war with us, and the sooner we accept this reality, the sooner we can take appropriate military action to put an end to this threat.
Radicals only understand the language of brute force. No amount of diplomacy will convince a terrorist to put down his rifle and set aside his “holy” cause.
This is what our president and his administration fail to understand, and why they continue to drop the ball with their all but nonexistent foreign policy.
Let’s hope the next commander-in-chief truly understands the threat we face and will do what’s needed to stop our enemies from killing more of our people on our own soil.
