Among the many reasons for Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump has been the Left’s obsession with identity politics being pitted against Trump’s anti-PC attitude. It should come to no surprise that the Left’s strategy of pandering to issues specific to a whole laundry-list of ethnic groups is no where near as effective in mobilizing voters than trying to make an appeal to everyone as an American.
And the representatives of identity politics haven’t helped either. Does anyone really think trying to guilt-trip white people into believing they’re racist, or blocking off highways in protest is going to bring anyone to their side? Nope.
The reaction from the Left following Hillary’s loss has been reassuring for anyone banking on a second Trump term, however. Their excuse for the loss? That the nation which voted for the first black president by historic margins somehow turned racist, sexist, Islamophobic, misogynistic, and a whole list of once serious charges that the Left has turned into buzzwords. In other words: they’ve learned nothing.
The DNC is currently looking for a new chair, and the favorite thus far is Keith Ellison. One might suspect this in part due to the fact that he was the first Muslim congressman, and this would allow the Democrat Party to score some brownie-points with the social justice crowd. Identity is more important than qualifications to these people, and they’ll admit as much. In fact, it doesn’t matter to the far-Left how qualified you are if you’re committing the crime of being qualified while white and male.
Symone Sanders, former spokeswoman for the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign, appeared on CNN Wednesday afternoon to weigh in on the future of the DNC and the Democratic party. Sanders dismissed the idea of Howard Dean returning as DNC chairman commenting, “we don’t need white people leading the Democratic party right now.”“Howard Dean is also on record maligning young people and millennials. Telling those Bernie folks they just need to get in line and maligning Bernie Sanders. And that is not what we need,” Sanders said about the former party chairman.
“In my opinion we don’t need white people leading the Democratic party right now,” Sanders said. “The Democratic party is diverse, and it should be reflected as so in leadership and throughout the staff, at the highest levels. From the vice chairs to the secretaries all the way down to the people working in the offices at the DNC.”
Geez, I can’t wonder why Donald Trump dominated the white vote this election (as liberals have constantly reminded us). You know what, I do think racism played a role…. just not the kind of racism the Left thinks.
