PATHETIC: Obama mentions himself 45 times during his Dallas speech

What did you expect from President Obama’s speech at the memorial for the five fallen police in Dallas?

To be honest, while he has a tendency to politicize tragedy, we all hoped he would actually honor the fallen, and try to discourage the kind of divisive rhetoric we’re seeing against the police. It’s completely possible to criticize the police without being anti-cop – something the Black Lives Matter crowd has yet to learn.

And yet, if you listened to the speech you’d think he was trying to recruit for BLM and push gun control at the same time. He told us with a straight face that it’s easier for a teenager to buy a Glock in America than a book. Remember the last time you had to pass a background check to check out a library book? Me neither.

We were also “educated” about the police disproportionately shooting black men, a statement not rooted in fact, and one that inspired the kind of rhetoric that led to five police officers being killed in Dallas.

And above all, Obama made his speech about himself. The Daily Caller reports:

President Obama referred to himself 45 times over the course of the speech he delivered Tuesday at the memorial service for the five police officers killed in Dallas last week.

Obama referred to himself twice before finishing his opening salutations and before mentioning the slain officers or their families. After noting the presence of President Bush, members of Congress and Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings, Obama appeared to go off-script.

Obama would refer to himself 43 more times throughout the speech — most of which he personally wrote, according to the LA Times — including one instance where he referred to himself in the third-person: “the president.”

The president also referred to himself while lamenting the apparent inefficacy of his own rhetoric. “I’ve seen how inadequate my own words can be,” he said. No kidding.

To no surprise, Obama got little applause from the law enforcement officers in the audience. I’m sure they were all thrilled to be lectured on police brutality following the deaths of five of their brothers.
