As we reported here, Clarence Thomas had been pondering retirement after Obama’s presidency comes to an end. This would be a severe blow to an already divided Supreme Court – and these problems would compound even more with a Clinton presidency. With two liberal Supreme Court justices nominated, there would be a 6-3 advantage in the courts against us.
Apparently, that story was just a rumor. According to The Hill:
The wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is slamming reports that her husband is considering retirement.
“For all those contacting me about the possibility of my husband retiring, I say — unsubscribe from those false news sources and carry on with your busy lives.”The Examiner reported Sunday that Thomas is “mulling retirement after the presidential election.” The report, which cited anonymous sources, said the George H. W. Bush appointee “has been considering retirement for awhile and never planned to stay until he died. “

Had the initial reports been true, there would’ve been a liberal majority on the courts until at least 2050 if Hillary takes the presidency.
Still, some liberals haven’t gotten the memo. Numerous liberal sites are reporting today that Thomas is considering retirement – even though that myth has been dispelled as of last night. They’re in for an unpleasant surprise.
