Liberal writer defends anti-Trump violence; backfires IMMEDIATELY

Following the disturbing acts of violence committed against Trump supporters in San Jose yesterday, you’d have to dig deep before you could find a single person defending the protestor’s actions.  But they were there, and they weren’t all just anonymous internet commenters.

One defender was none other than the mayor of San Jose himself. Also not only defending violence but encouraging it was Emmett Rensin, a writer for Vox, a prominent liberal website (you’ve probably never heard of). He sent out the following tweets last night:

Oh – did I mention that any criticism of liberals is LITERALLY violence? Though of late, “literally” is “literally” the most misused word ever…

Well, the blowback came quickly. As a result, HotAir reported that Vox editor-in-chief Ezra Klein just announced Rensin’s suspension.

On Thursday night, Emmett Rensin, the deputy editor of Vox’s first person section, sent a series of tweets that, among other things, urged people to riot if Donald Trump comes to their town.

We at Vox do not take institutional positions on most questions, and we encourage our writers to debate and disagree. But direct encouragement of riots crosses a line between expressing a contrary opinion and directly encouraging dangerous, illegal activity. We welcome a variety of viewpoints, but we do not condone writing that could put others in danger.

In this case, Emmett’s tweets violated Vox’s standards and Emmett has been suspended as a consequence.

He’s lucky he’s not a conservative – he would’ve been completely out of a job for sure in that case.
