Equal Pay Day? Why the left’s claims are BOGUS…

April 4th is equal pay day, and the oft-repeated statistic that women only earn 77 cents for every dollar a man earns isn’t even 77 percent truth.

If you tell a lie long enough people will believe it — so it’s no surprise how widely believed the wage gap myth is. Even Ivanka Trump tweeted out a message referencing it:

It’s hard to imagine that her father takes the same stance. When asked by a young lady if she would earn the same as a man, then-candidate Trump replied that she’d get paid the same as a man if she did just as good a job. It was a blunt answer that led to plenty of criticism from the Left, but Trump was the first politician in some time to actually acknowledge that there are variables that go into pay differences.

Women not working as hard as men is not one of them, but women working shorter work weeks than men, on average; majoring in lower paying college majors, taking off time to raise children, and other variables are. None of those are to criticize those choices, rather, it’s an acknowledgement that there are things women tend to value more than money, on average.

As for what the economic consensus on the matter is, allow Christina Hoff Sommers, the “factual feminist,” to explain:

Know anyone who needs to hear this? Spread the word on Facebook and Twitter and get the truth out about the wage gap and equal pay day.
