Leave it up to the gun control zealots in office to find a way to politicize a crazed anti-Trump socialist trying to kill as many Republican lawmakers as he could earlier today.
As if trying to draw lessons about gun control in an event where the only fatality was the shooter (thanks to the “good guys with guns” at the scene), Virginia’s Governor Terry McAuliffe stressed that such shootings are just a fraction of the real problem.
Because the only reason he lived was because of a gun.

And we really mean a “fraction,” as McAuliffe told a crowd at a news conference: “This is not what today is about but there are too many guns on the street. We lose 93 million Americans a day to gun violence. It’s not just about politicians, we worry about all of our citizens.”At that point, a reporter asked “why are you bringing it up? People are going to criticize that you are bringing up gun control at this time?”
McAuliffe replied “I’m talking about it today. This is a very serious issue,” before repeating the 93 million figure once more before being corrected by reporters.“93 individuals a day,” McAuliffe corrected himself.
Even that figure is a bit hyperbolic however, as the majority of those gun deaths are “voluntary.” As we know from prior years’ data, roughly 63 percent of gun deaths are suicides, and you have to include suicides to get an average of over 90 gun deaths a day in America.
Regardless, it’s a pretty embarrassing slip-up in what’s already an unlikely candidate for a shooting to inspire gun control, and the mockery piled on rather quickly:
And of course, Governor Terry McAuliffe goes for more gun control as Republicans attacked say they had only baseball bats 2 defend selves

Our own Allen West had this to say about McAuliffe’s instant politicization:
My sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to my former colleague Representative Steve Scalise, the congressional staffers, the Capitol Hill Police, and the affected families. I pray we quickly get to the bottom of this incident. However, Virginia’s Governor Terry MaAuliffe just spoke at a press conference saying “there are too many guns on the street> It angers me that this charlatan would use this horrible incident as a platform for an insidious politicized agenda statement. Let me remind McAuliffe of something, if there were no Capitol Hill police officers there, we would be talking about a massacre. There’s only one thing that stops a bad guy with a gun, and that’s a good guy with a gun. I guess we can expect more of this line of talking point from the left. It’s not about the means; it’s about the motive, which the investigation shall ascertain. Governor McAuliffe should be ashed for his despicable statement.
Would this shooing have been stopped with stricter gun control? Doubtful, but it’s more likely it wouldn’t have occurred at all if the media hadn’t led the shooter to believe Donald Trump was Hitler reincarnate.
