After CNN reports Pence dropping out, Pence COMES FORWARD and tells donors…

It’s hardly a “Dewey defeats Truman” moment, but when it comes to Mike Pence’s position as Donald Trump’s running mate, they jumped the gun. Last night, the Clinton News Network ran a story that Pence is considering dropping out of the race, as he was being pressured to do so by GOP leadership.

But Mike Pence confirmed Saturday night is fully committed and rumors of him dropping out are categorically false.

In the article, CNN reported that: One of the scenarios being played out by GOP party elders is convincing Pence to leave the ticket. Vin Weber, a former Jeb Bush supporter, says he would “absolutely” call for Pence to leave the ticket as a way to put “immeasurable pressure” on Trump to leave the race. “Pence is the anchor that keeps Trump in the race,” so without him it would be over for the candidate, Weber said.

Perhaps he’s facing pressure to drop out, but later last night he put those rumors to rest.

Via RedState:

Speculation ran wild last night after CNN reported that Mike Pence was considering dropping off the Trump/Pence ticket. This came after Pence strongly criticized Trump’s taped statements on sexually assaulting women and a cancellation of events he was set to attend.

However, Pence himself has shot those speculations down after he told fundraisers he was sticking around. According to The Wall Street Journal: Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence told Republican donors Saturday night that he is fully committed to Donald Trump, aides said. Speculation that Mr. Pence might leave the ticket, following in the footsteps of other Republicans who abandoned Mr. Trump on Saturday after the release of a videotape of the nominee making lewd comments of women, is “categorically false,” one aide said.

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time Clinton News Network has spread spurious rumors or out-and-out falsehoods.

The leaked audio that sparked this mess has taken a toll on Trump’s campaign, but it’s not game over by any means. A new poll released this morning shows that, while Republican leaders may be abandoning Trump, voters are not.

We’ll just have to wait and see how Trump handles this debacle during tonight’s debate.
