Who knows if the Trump administration had plans to further investigate and potentially prosecute Hillary Clinton for issues relating to her private email server scandal? But, the chances are a heck of a lot lower now.
ABC News is just reporting:
[A] laptop computer containing floor plans for Trump Tower, details on the criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server and other national security information was stolen from a Secret Service agent’s vehicle in New York City on Thursday.
The laptop was stolen from the agent’s vehicle parked in the driveway of her home in Brooklyn. The information available thus far suggests that the thief in question stepped out of a car (potentially contracted to Uber, according to the NY Daily News), on a street in Bath Beach, before stealing the laptop from the vehicle. A man was spotted on camera fleeing the scene of the crime wearing a backpack.
In addition to the computer, a number of other items stolen include “several coins and a black bag with the Secret Service insignia on it, sensitive documents, and the agent’s access key-card.”The bag and coins have been recovered, but the laptop and sensitive documents are still missing (presumably, that’s what the thief was actually after). In addition to the information on Hillary Clinton, and floor plans for Trump Tower, the laptop also included information on evacuation protocols from the Tower.
Quoting from the New York Daily News piece:
“The Secret Service is very heavily involved and, citing national security, there’s very little we have on our side,” a police source said. “It’s a very big deal.”
“There’s data on there that’s highly sensitive,” the police source added. “They’re scrambling like mad.”
Someone knew where this agent lived — and likely this sensitive information was in her vehicle. That was clearly what the thief was after, as the coins and black bag were discarded and recovered.
And why did this agent leave her laptop containing sensitive information in her vehicle? Did she learn about security protocol from Hillary Clinton?
