Democrats plan to be “as disruptive as possible” to push for gun control

First came the filibuster, than a failed vote on four gun control measures, a childish “sit-in” – and you ain’t seen nothing yet!

Next on the list of inevitable failures is a “national day of action” for gun control to be held by the Congressional Black Caucus. This “day of action” will entail holding “roundtables, town halls, press conferences, and similar events” in their home districts, as they continue to preach to the choir and accomplish nothing.

In fact, they don’t even seem to grasp the root of the problem. It’s mass shootings that get exploited for the purpose of pushing gun control, but if they were really concerned about gun violence, it wouldn’t be mass public shootings the gun control measures should be aiming to solve (not like they’d work regardless). Hundreds more people are killed in Chicago alone than in mass public shootings whatever year you look at. Just in the past two days (and this morning) 22 people were shot in Chicago, and that number is only due to increase by the end of the long hot weekend.

But do you think that’ll be the addressed during the “day of action?” Doubtful. In fact, as The Hill reports:

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is planning to disrupt the House when members return as part of a push for more action to stop gun violence, according to a memo obtained by the Washington Examiner.

The caucus said its members should be “as disruptive to Speaker [Paul] Ryan [R-Wis.] as possible next week” when the House gets back on Tuesday as part of a “day of action on the floor in regards to gun violence,” the memo, sent to Democratic offices, said.

Members will give speeches pushing for more restrictions on the possession and use of guns, the Examiner reported. They will also attend a House Rules Committee hearing on Tuesday afternoon, where legislation on terrorism and gun control will be addressed.

“During Votes – Members are encouraged to have a picture (not poster board, but a printed piece of paper with an image of a constituent killed by a firearm),” the memo said.

Will they note whether that constituent was killed in gang violence? Will they make any mention of whether the murderers obtained their guns legally?

Great strategy guys. Complain for the past seven years that you can’t get anything done because of the Republicans in Congress, then purposely behave in a way that will enable nothing to get done.
