Since November’s Trump win, we’ve been treated to a number of public celebrity meltdowns. From vows (unkept, sadly) to leave the country, to rants at marches and rallies, to album delays because “suddenly, the world changed,” La La Land has truly lost it.
Enter The Boss.
Yes, Bruce Springsteen, like former First Lady Michelle Obama, is “embarrassed” to be an American.
It’s an interesting take from a man worth millions – millions a capitalist country allowed him to make. From a man “down with the common people,” from his multiple mansions around the globe. From a man whose first wife was a celebrity model, rather than a union widow like those extolled in his songs.
Springsteen made the remarks in an Australian concert earlier this week, saying, “We stand before you embarrassed Americans.”Embarrassed. Wow. From Fox News:
Springsteen also announced his band is a part of the resistance against the Trump administration.
This isn’t the first time the singer has taken aim at Trump.
During a wide-ranging interview on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast in January, Springsteen said he doubts Trump “is simply competent enough” to be president.
“It’s simply the fear of, ‘Is someone simply competent enough to do this particular job?'” Springsteen told Maron. “Forget about where they are ideologically. Do they simply have the pure competence to be put in a position of such responsibility?”
It’s not all bad news, though. As the Fox New piece continues:
He also added that there were “plenty of good, solid folks that voted for Donald Trump” and the outcome of the election is that Americans can now see that there are millions of people in the United States who think differently than they do.
Thanks for that, Bruce.
What’s embarrassing is Phase 2 of the “World Apology Tour” like that undertaken by Barack Obama upon taking the oath of office. What’s embarrassing is watching those propped up by American consumers — who buy their albums, watch their shows and attend their concerts and sports events — decry our country on the world stage.
What’s interesting is that we live in a free country, and Bruuuuuuuuce can move to any one of his homes outside of the U.S. for the duration of this administration. The travel ban surely does not affect him.
However, for those of us “Born in the USA” who prefer patriotism over rhetoric, we’re embarrassed by “the resistance” to the will of the American people who voted in November – “resistance” continually touted by the left.
Maybe it’s just time to “Fade Away,” Bruce…
