Wait, did Obama just say something that ACTUALLY makes sense?

President Barack Obama met with high school students and their parents in Iowa this week to discuss college access and affordability. To put it mildly, some of his comments were not typical Obama progressive-speak. In fact, he actually made sense. WTH?

When it comes to free speech, the left is no poster child — at least when it comes to speech from the right. When fringe groups like Black Lives Matter call for the killing of cops (pigs in a blanket fry em’ like bacon) with no repercussion, there’s a problem.

When Common Core can make it a standard to study Islam in school but take issue with the Bible or the Torah, there’s a problem.

Of course, that’s nothing surprising coming from the Obama administration, right? Which is why Obama’s most recent comments are so…well, BIZARRE.

As the Business Insider reports, “a junior at Lincoln High School, asked the president what he thought about threats from presidential candidates that they would cut government spending at biased schools.

“I know you don’t want to get involved with the presidential race at the moment, but a candidate has said that they want to cut government spending to politically-biased colleges, and I was wondering if, say, that would hurt the education system for those who depend on that, or would it better the education as a whole?” the student asked.

Obama replied, “I’ve heard of some college campuses where they don’t want to have a guest speaker who is too conservative.”

“Or they don’t want to read a book if it has language that is offensive to African-Americans, or somehow sends a demeaning signal towards women. I don’t agree that you, when you become students at colleges, have to be coddled and protected from different points of views,” he added.”

I know you can’t see the shock on my face, but did Barack Obama just encourage students to listen to conservative viewpoints and read literature that is not politically correct? Where has this open-minded, fair-sounding person come from? Where has he been the last 7 years?

Though Obama explained any mode of thinking where someone in government decides what should and should not be taught “runs contrary to everything we believe about education,” he didn’t let students off the hook.

He implored students not to become so sensitive that they try to silence individuals with differing opinions.

“That’s not the way we learn, either,” he said.

Wait. What? Did he just say we shouldn’t silence differing viewpoints? Isn’t that specifically what the PC culture tries to do?

I do take issue with his hypocritical statement that government shouldn’t make decisions on what should or should not be taught. Isn’t that exactly what Common Core does?

Instead of allowing parents and states to decide how to educate, the government holds funding hostage unless “their” standards are taught.

When I hear Obama making statements that make sense, but go against what we’ve all seen and heard as his fundamental beliefs, it worries me. What is the angle here?

I’m sure we won’t hear Clinton or Sanders promoting conservative viewpoints on college campuses as they make their tours.

One has enough problems staying out of jail. The other is too busy promoting socialism.

But it does make me wonder. What’s Obama up to now?
