The lies and rhetoric surrounding President Donald Trump’s plans and intentions have been bad and continually get worse.
Trump’s 90-day moratorium on travel from seven nations known to be hotbeds of terrorist activities while our intelligence, Homeland Security and policing agencies improve and coordinate vetting processes has morphed into a “Muslim ban.”
Trump’s desire to secure our southern border in an effort to gain control over illegal immigration has morphed into “building a wall around our country.”
For unknown reasons liberals simply cannot grasp two important concepts;
1) no one has the right to immigrate to the United States, legally or illegally. It’s our country and we establish our immigration guidelines and rules.
2) There’s a difference between legal and illegal immigration. We are a nation of laws and if you violate them whether by speeding, armed-robbery, immigration or any other means, you are a law breaker.
This weekend Jorge Ramos, the Mexican-born Univision news anchor, decided to dial the rhetoric meter up to stratospheric heights.Ramos, who is an immigrant himself, was speaking at the 2017 edition of the network’s annual entertainment awards show, Premios Lo Nuestro (“Our Awards”) when, while speaking in Spanish, he made the declaration “This is also our country. Let me repeat this: OUR country, not theirs. It is our country.”
What is it about awards shows? Remember when they used to be about honoring artists for their talents, abilities and contributions? Video with subtitled translation of Ramos’ full minute-long diatribe can be seen here:
“I am an immigrant, just like many of you. I am a proud Latino immigrant here in the United States. My name is Jorge Ramos, and I work at Univision and at the Fusion network. And you know exactly what is going on here in the United States. There are many people who do not want us to be here, and who want to create a wall in order to separate us. But you know what? This is also our country. Let me repeat this: OUR country, not theirs. It is our country. And we are not going to leave. We are nearly 60 million Latinos in the United States. And thanks to US, the United States eats, grows and, as we’ve seen today, sings and dances. So when they attack us, we already know what we are going to do. We are not going to sit down. We will not shut up. And we will not leave. That is what we are going to do.”
“So when they attack us”-? “There are many who do not want us to be here”-??
Attack?? WHO is going to “attack” you, Jorge? WHO are these “many” who do not want you here, Jorge? “Our country, not theirs”?? Who would be the “they” in “theirs”, Jorge? Logic dictates that the “they” are we the (legal) American citizens. How is America not our country?
Talk about divisive language. Ramos’ remarks smack of an “us against them” mentality which liberals like him claim is the problem!
Is anyone going to call this speech out as ‘hateful’, ‘racist’, ‘divisive’ or ‘racially inflamatory’? Doubtful.
