Yowza: 43% of Democrats describe themselves as…

Last year hilarity ensued when Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was asked by MSNBC host Chris Matthews to explain the difference between a Democrat and a socialist.

Unable to answer the question, Schultz tried to highlight differences between Republicans and Democrats. After Matthews repeated the question she repeated the same diversion.

That was last year, and Democrats haven’t taken the time to study up and explain the difference yet it appears.

In an interview earlier this month, Matthews posed the question to Hillary Clinton, who was also unable to answer the question, telling him that “you’d have to ask [Sanders].”

Well as Weasel Zippers reported, maybe there isn’t so much of a difference after all. Here are the results of a poll showing how Iowa Democrats identify themselves economically:

So how representative is this one poll of Iowa Democrats of all Democrats? Quite representative it would seem. HotAir reported in May of last year that:

Democrats (43%) are also much more likely than either independents (22%) or Republicans (9%) to have a favorable view of socialism. Democrats, in fact, are as likely to have a favorable view of capitalism (43%) as socialism.

The good news is that the majority of Americans do not share those views – and that’s not going to pan out well for the Democrats when election time comes.
