Back in 2013, Marco Rubio said on the Spanish network Univision that amnesty for illegal immigrants must come first before border security.

To solidify the criticism Rubio is already facing for his part in the “gang of eight,” during last night’s debate Ted Cruz blasted Rubio, charging that he “supports citizenship for 12 million people here illegally. In addition to that, Marco went on Univision in Spanish and said he would not rescind President Obama’s illegal executive amnesty on his first day in office. I have promised to rescind every single executive action, including that one.”

Rubio broke script and responded “I don’t know how he knows what I said on Univision because he doesn’t speak Spanish.” Cruz’s rebuttal couldn’t have been more to the point:

Even if Cruz didn’t speak Spanish, are we supposed to believe that no one is capable of translating his Univision interview into English?

While this bi-lingual exchange was one of the most talked-about moments from last night’s debate, as Col. West suggested, it was not necessarily because it impressed voters in a positive way.
