SC Gov. Nikki Haley just made a SURPRISE endorsement…

On Tuesday, South Carolina governor Nikki Haley said that she wasn’t sure which candidate she would support for the presidency, ruling out only Donald Trump as a potential pick.

But she made up her mind pretty quickly – with an endorsement made public today. As The State reported: U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio will win South Carolina’s most Republican coveted endorsement of the 2016 presidential race when Gov. Nikki Haley announces her support at a Chapin rally on Wednesday evening, a source with knowledge of the governor’s decision told The State.

Haley has become a favorite to make vice presidential short lists after her handling of last year’s Charleston shooting and successful call to remove the Confederate flag from the S.C. State House grounds. She gave the Republican response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union last month.

The governor’s endorsement comes at a critical time for Rubio.

The Florida senator needs momentum in South Carolina after finishing fifth in New Hampshire after a rattled debate performance. Rubio trails Trump and Cruz in the Palmetto State with three days ahead of the S.C. GOP presidential primary on Saturday.

Like Rubio, Haley has been criticized as being weak on illegal immigration by some conservatives (and Donald Trump himself, hence why she ruled out supporting him). This may solidify the suspicions of Rubio’s critics, but it is expected to be a boost to Rubio in South Carolina this Saturday.

As the Washington Post noted, Haley has an 81% favorable rating among Republicans in South Carolina, and the endorsement will likely dominate headlines in the State with only three days until the election.

I’ll remind our friends on the left that an Indian-American female just endorsed a Latino senator for president in a Deep South state. They’re the ones talking about diversity all the time – how come we haven’t seen any on their side during this race?
