Remember the “Clock Boy” story? How could you forget?

It had all the ingredients for a story that would go viral to highlight the supposed problem of “Islamophobia” in America. Ahmed Mohamed, a young Muslim teen, simply brought a homemade clock to school, we were told, and was quickly arrested by a teacher who mistook it for a bomb.

That narrative later turned out to be false. He’d shown the clock to multiple teachers before being reported (some of whom warned him it could frighten others), and he didn’t even build the darn thing.

Still, it was hard to find a public figure not singing his praises. Barack Obama tweeted out “cool clock Ahmed,” and invited him to the White House. He also received praise and gifts from Facebook, Microsoft, and Google, not to mention the countless others who rallied behind him.

And as PJ Media reported, he just got another shout-out….. from al-Qaida.

Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula’s new issue of Inspire magazine includes a shout out to the “Clock Boy” while slamming President Obama’s programs to counter violent extremism.

The new al-Qaida issue featured a picture of the two meeting as well as the clock bomb, with the notation: “Obama, ‘because of his sensitivity towards Muslim discrimination,’ sees an opp to further his PR by acknowledging a brilliant 14-yr -ld Muslim boy (who in fact even inspired us in a way).”

The Inspire issue features step-by-step photos of how to build a parcel bomb, a magnetic car bomb, and a door-trap bomb.

Admittedly, I’m a bit confused as to what exactly they found so inspiring by all this. They do realize it wasn’t really a bomb, right?
