Is there anything funnier than liberals being unintentionally racist while trying to blast conservatives as racist?
The other week, CNN ran a headline implying that blacks are felons while slamming Trump’s rhetoric on race. This came after Trump gave a speech decrying the failure of Democrat leadership in African-American communities, particularly when it comes to poverty, unemployment, and education. But apparently because Trump opposes voting rights for felons, that means that he’s a hypocrite. “Trump wants GOP to court black voters – then slams voting rights for felons” they headlined their piece on the matter.
Yesterday, MSNBC made a similar screwup.
MSNBC host Alex Witt wanted to play a clip of Hillary Clinton accusing Donald Trump of being a racist, but instead aired a Kentucky Fried Chicken ad.Witt was talking to Cornell Williams Brooks of the NAACP on Saturday when he teed up a portion of Clinton’s speech.
“As you know, Hillary Clinton says that Trump’s campaign is appealing to a fringe in the Republican Party that is racist. I want to listen to part of her speech with you and get your reaction. So here it is,” Witt said.Inexplicably, the KFC ad aired with the MSNBC graphics still on the screen.
“I am the extra crispy colonel,” Colonel Sanders actor George Hamilton said in the ad. “Absolutely not what we were going to play,” Witt said as they moved on.
No kidding. One has to wonder why they had that clip saved, and what would lead to it being confused with a clip supposedly to do with Donald Trump and race. Could they have categorized that clip based on a certain racial stereotype? You decide.
