WOW: Hillary says 6 words EVERY American needs to hear

Last night, Hillary Clinton declined to give a concession speech, opting instead to make a private concession phone call to Donald Trump, congratulating the President-elect on his victory. One can imagine the shock of her loss was too overwhelming to give a public speech at the time, as the narrative this entire election from the media and the campaign has been the inevitability of a Hillary presidency.

After a long night, Hillary just gave her concession speech. And while our readers know we’ve been no fans of Hillary Clinton the politician and candidate, we must commend her for some of her remarks this morning. Mrs. Clinton noted, she hopes Donald Trump “will be a successful president for all Americans,” and that her followers must accept that he’s president. And she included six words every American needs to hear and take to hear: “We owe him an open mind and a chance to lead,” she said.

And in perhaps some of the more authentic moments we’ve seen from her, Clinton didn’t try to pretend that she isn’t devastated by the results. “This is painful, and it will be for a long time,” she said.

Whether you feel Secretary Clinton was fully sincere in her remarks this morning or not, she has done the right thing today for our country by taking the high road in encouraging her supporters to welcome Trump with an open mind. Words that we can only hope the entire “Never Trump” crowd — Hillary supporter or no — will heed, for the good of our nation.

As I write this, President Obama echoed Clinton’s words, praising our Democratic process rather than attacking Trump.

“We are now all rooting for his success in uniting and leading this country. The peaceful transfer of power is one of the hallmarks of our democracy,” he said.

He likened to transition of power from one administration to another to a relay race, noting, “ultimately, we’re all on the same team.”

Onward.
