Police in Maryland are responding to a hostage situation at a local Burger King.
According to CBS Baltimore; Four people, including a 7-year-old are being held hostage inside a Baltimore Burger King after a rape suspect fled police on Sunday afternoon. According to Baltimore Police Spokesperson T.J. Smith, a vehicle pursuit ensued around 11:00 a.m. when the suspect refused to pull over for officers.
Smith says the suspect later collided with a vehicle in the area of the 1700 block of Washington Blvd. and Monroe St. where the suspect fled into a Burger King. Police say the gunman is holding at least four people hostage inside the business.
“There are individuals inside the Burger King that we believe are being held against their will,” said Smith.
Investigators are attempting to communicate with the suspect, who is believed to be armed with a hand gun. There have been no reports of shots fired, but the scene remains very active.
Police say one person was injured in connection to the initial crash with the suspect.
