Whoa: BLM just found something NEW for Coiln Kaepernick to protest…

Unless you live under a rock, you’re aware of the general outcry over San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s refusal to stand for the National Anthem because he believes it is emblematic of “oppression” towards blacks and other minorities. He has continued to double down on his actions, and was of course encouraged by our own Dear Leader, B. Hussein Obama, who said Kaepernick “has a point.”

Well, if Kaepernick wants to complain about oppression, a two-hundred-year-old song is a rather “soft target.” Instead, he might want to pick up the latest au courant outrage du jour from Black Lives Matter.

You might not be aware Black Lives Matter, a group that originated following the shooting of black men in America, has a presence in the United Kingdom.

And what issue facing the black community is BLM fighting across the Atlantic? No joke – “racist” air pollution.

Flights at London City Airport were disrupted after protesters gained access to the runway. The Met Police said it was called to the site after nine protesters erected a tripod and “locked themselves together” on the runway.

The Black Lives Matter UK movement confirmed it was responsible for the protest. All nine protesters were removed and arrested. The airport said inbound flights had been diverted.

Black Lives Matter UK said the action was taken in order to “highlight the UK’s environmental impact on the lives of black people locally and globally”.

A statement said: “Whilst at London City Airport a small elite is able to fly, in 2016 alone 3,176 migrants are known to have died or gone missing in the Mediterranean.

“Black people are the first to die, not the first to fly, in this racist climate crisis. In Britain, 28% of black people are more likely to be exposed to air pollution… being in closest proximity to the industries causing climate change.”

He added the disruption to flights was “a very small inconvenience when you think about the consequences for black communities daily” and the protesters would remain on site “as long as feasibly possible”.

If we’re really going to casually accuse our trash of being one of the wretched “isms” plaguing the world, classism might be a more appropriate description than racism, as it’s generally people of low incomes exposed to pollution. It really is amazing, giving the horrific history of racism, how lightheartedly activists today will use the term to describe anything that even slightly affects one demographic more than another. Last year the British network SkyNews (seriously) ran a segment arguing air conditioning is sexist because women feel the cold more than men.

That being said, did you think the UK would be capable of taking our craziest political movement and making it even crazier?
