Obama’s America: Liberal professor makes INSANE claim about gun control and racism

In our ridiculously hyper-sensitive, politically correct world where people could find racism in a glass of milk (after all, it’s white, isn’t it?), the latest inane liberal theory is that racism is the underlying reason for opposing stricter gun control.

Yes, you’re racist because you want to protect your Second Amendment rights. Your gun ownership causes black people to live in fear.

A professor of philosophy at the University of Notre Dame published an op-ed in The New York Times linking lenient gun laws in America to racism.

Prof. Gary Gutting argued “permissive gun laws are a manifestation of racism” and invoked “hatred of racism” as a motivation for the gun control movement. According to Gutting, high exposure to guns in largely poor black neighborhoods along with low restrictions on gun ownership permeates a culture of racism.

If we look back into early American history, gun control was historically supported by the KKK to keep guns out of the hands of blacks. The origins of gun control, not leniency, were motivated by racism, for which we have actual evidence, unlike Gutting’s thesis.

Gutting is overlooking the cause of high gun crime in predominantly black communities: gang violence. Even the most idealistic gun control advocate can’t seriously think gangs obtain their firearms legally.

Additionally, how does he explain support for gun rights in other nations such as Switzerland and Israel? Both have a minuscule black population – who are they racist against?

“If we fail to oppose with equal passion and vigor the relentless political pressure of (mostly white) gun advocates, we force a large number of black citizens to live with the constant threat of gun violence. We’re in effect letting the Second Amendment trump the Fourteenth Amendment, implicitly preferring the right of gun ownership to the right of black people to live free from fear,” Gutting argues.

There’s a certain level of irony in Gutting invoking the Constitution here, as one of the benefits of the 14th Amendment was that it allowed blacks to own guns – a Constitutional right they were previously denied.

So hopeless for the future of gun lobbyists, Gutting calls any attempt at “arguing against the claims of the gun lobby” an obvious “waste of time.”

“The case for action is overwhelming, but there’s no chance of convincing the entrenched minority who are so personally (or financially) invested in gun ownership,” he adds.

Such is the narrative liberals like to push about gun control in America: that its common sense is only being stamped out by a handful of lobbyists. They never bother to ask why the NRA, an organization which has a higher approval rating than Obama and Hillary Clinton, is so powerful.

When 30-40 percent of the American population owns a gun, and there are nearly as many guns as people, we’re hardly an “entrenched minority.”

There are even more gun owners then liberals like Gutting. Thank goodness.
