You will NOT believe what liberals are classifying as “hate speech” now

I once wrote a piece about folks rewriting language, that there’s a faraway room of people — liberal progressives — determining what’s acceptable speech and redefining words. We just saw last week that five folks decided they had the power to redefine marriage — hope they realize they don’t have the last word. But someone has come up with a new classification of speech, “racial microaggressions.”

As reported at Fox News and here:

Phrases such as “America is the land of opportunity” and “America is a melting pot” are “micro-aggressions” that could leave some students feeling discriminated against, according to a new faculty training guide put out by the University of California that one former professor in the system says shows “how crazy it’s become.”

The guide, which says those phrases and others can be interpreted by minorities as “denying the significance of a person of color’s racial/ethnic experience and history,” or that they “assimilate to the dominant culture,” is used across the vast, 200,000-student  University of California system. Specifically, it is for training professors in “faculty leadership seminars” that aim to “enhance department and campus climate toward inclusive excellence.

The guide, first exposed by the student-run The College Fix, uses the same argument to condemn a number of seemingly innocuous statements, such as:

“I believe the most qualified person should get the job.”

“Affirmative action is racist.”

“Everyone can succeed in this society, if they work hard enough.”

“When I look at you, I don’t see color.”

“I don’t believe in race.”

“Gender plays no part in who we hire.”

Many find the training guide absurd. “I don’t think University of California realizes how crazy it’s become,” Tim Groseclose, an economics professor at George Mason University, told Groseclose was a professor at UCLA until last year, when he resigned after he brought to light evidence that the university illegally admitted students on the basis of race. “According to that document, Martin Luther King, Jr. would be guilty of micro-aggressions.”

Apparently, these “micro aggressions” are such microscopic bits of aggression and hate, they’re only visible to liberals promoting the fundamental transformation of our great nation.

Now this absurdity has spread to the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. This reminds me of a maxim military drill sergeants use: “you can’t fix stupid, you can only try to contain it.” Sadly, this stupidity is spreading like a cancer. You have to ask yourself, what is racist about saying, “America is the land of opportunity?” What is the converse that should be promulgated? Should we saying instead that America’s the land of dependency? What inspired so many over the 239 years of our nation’s existence to have them surrender all and embark to set foot upon the shores of America? Of course, we’ve recently seen that race is now a condition of mental state — ala Rachel Dolezal. It seems that the very fabric of America is being assaulted as part of this fundamental transformation.

Look, I’m married to a brilliant woman who has an MBA and a PhD. She’s a naturalized American citizen, her country of origin being Jamaica. Angela West believes that everyone can succeed here in America if they apply themselves. She teaches our daughters that “your attitude determines your altitude.” Doggone, I suppose Angela’s inspirational maxim is now a “racial microaggression.” I guess my mom’s teaching that “self-esteem only comes from doing esteemable things” is now a statement of “racial micro aggression.” I suppose my dad telling me that I should “never see my skin color as a crutch” is also indicative of “racial micro aggression.” Just gotta tell ya, darn glad my folks raised me in the old school manner. They raised me to be a victor and not a victim.

I guess Booker T. Washington’s agenda of education, entrepreneurship and self-reliance are now code words for something nefarious according to the gods of lexicon and political correctness. Yes, I want to work hard and get ahead. I don’t want to be part of the crowd. I was taught to ascertain the standard and exceed it — never to settle for just being good enough.

It appears to me that we’re getting very close to having a little red book that outlines what we must say, do and probably eat. We’re witnessing the collectivization of our American society. And sadly, when you attempt to have a state structure based upon mediocrity, you get what Greece has become. And we’re watching a very sad story play out in a country where our actual debt far exceeds that of Greece, at $18.3T. Greece is a place where everyone was told, do not concern yourself about individual excellence, the state will keep everyone at a manageable level. Consider here in America that we have a debt to GDP ratio at 103%. But when one considers the unfunded liabilities of the mandatory spending side of our budget, our debt is actually closer to $90T.

What’s happening on our college campuses is quite disconcerting. The majority of our higher learning institutions are no longer in the business of education; their focus is now indoctrination. They’re not preparing a future generation of American industrialists and entrepreneurs. They seek to institute some aspect of mandatory collective conformity resembling the Borg of Star Trek, where individual identity is surrendered to the one mind grouping. To accomplish that objective, the liberal progressive socialist left has set their sights on redefining our thoughts, perspectives, insights and language. Remember that in California there are no more husbands and wives — just spouse one and spouse two — and when you break down the most fundamental and identifiable construct of society, family and marriage, there’s no telling how deep you go down the Alice in Wonderland rabbit hole.

Philosophically, there are more of us who don’t believe in uniform conformity than do — but the minority yells louder and has a very compliant media assisting them. Fear not, all is not lost. I believe their incessant absurdity is revealing a dark side we don’t want for our America — for our children and grandchildren. The question is whether we have the same conviction, courage and sense of character to make the stand, fight the good fight and reject this road to perdition. Consider the phrase, “when I look at you, I don’t see color” — it was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who said that was his dream. Now some chucklehead has redefined his dream as “racial micro aggression.”

The Alinskyites and their rules for radicals are going to undermine all that America is and could be. We must become committed to not allowing this to happen on our watch. Are you?
