The 2016 Invictus Games are taking place in Orlando, Florida, but little has been said about this in the mainstream media.
As The Daily Mail reports,The Invictus Games are an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event, created by Prince Harry, in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in sports including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, and indoor rowing.
Prince Harry, a British Army combat veteran of Afghanistan said, “It’s a great idea to make our injured servicemen and women feel that they’re still appreciated.
Prince Harry, a British Army combat veteran of Afghanistan said, “It’s a great idea to make our injured servicemen and women feel that they’re still appreciated.During the games, more than 500 competitors from countries including Italy, Germany, Australia, Estonia, Jordan and the UK and Afghanistan are competing in 10 events – archery, indoor rowing, powerlifting, road cycling, sitting volleyball, swimming, athletics, wheelchair basketball, rugby and tennis.”
This is the second year for the Invictus Games, which were first unveiled in London. It’s truly an honor and a testimony to the bond of Warriors. I was sent this very beautiful picture of an American wounded warrior named Katie. As you can see, Katie wears the scars of combat, but it’s apparent her spirit and greater beauty are unaffected.
There are many young ladies who’d line up to get a peck on the cheek from Prince Harry, but her kiss was one with a special meaning. It was a kiss that’s not about an emotional affection. It’s a kiss that solidifies the bond of the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Arms.
To Katie, we are so very proud of you, and you make me proud. And to Prince Harry, bravo young man, you truly are exceptional.
