Say what you wish, but wrong is wrong, and if there has been wrongdoing, well, just as former secretary of state Hillary Clinton stated Sunday evening, “no one is too big to jail.”
That may be true, but there may also be an incredible hypocrisy about to be unveiled.
As reported by The Daily Beast, “The Pentagon is considering retroactively demoting retired Gen. David Petraeus after he admitted to giving classified information to his biographer and mistress while he was still in uniform, three people with knowledge of the matter told The Daily Beast.
The decision now rests with Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, who is said to be willing to consider overruling an earlier recommendation by the Army that Petraeus not have his rank reduced. Such a demotion could cost the storied general hundreds of thousands of dollars—and deal an additional blow to his once-pristine reputation. “
The secretary is considering going in a different direction” from the Army, a defense official told The Daily Beast, because he wants to be consistent in his treatment of senior officers who engage in misconduct and to send a message that even men of Petraeus’s fame and esteemed reputation are not immune to punishment.”This whole episode reminds me of the Biblical story of Uriah the Hittite, one of David’s favored generals. The bad thing for Uriah was that he was married to Bathsheba, and David wanted her. So David ordered Uriah to the front lines where he was killed in battle — and David knew the loyal Uriah would not refuse his king’s order. And so it was, and is, with General David Petraeus, a renowned leader and warrior. When rumors of the general potentially becoming a presidential candidate came to the fore, it appears the Obama administration took interest in him. Petraeus, who was the U.S. Central Command commanding general was asked by President Obama — playing the role of David — to return to the front lines of Afghanistan.
You must understand, Gen. Petraeus was in command of the entire CENTCOM AOR (area of responsibility), of which Afghanistan was a part. So in making this request, Petraeus would be taking a command demotion. But being the loyal general he is, Gen. Petraeus, who had once been castigated by Obama’s left-wing minions as “General Betray-us,” saluted the flag and deployed once again.
There the good general did his utmost — I sat with him during a congressional delegation visit to Kabul back in 2011. And even upon his return, it was the Obama administration who offered Gen. Petraeus the position of CIA Director, and as a loyal servant of this nation, he accepted.
It appears the only reason Obama did all this was to eventually ruin the reputation of one of America’s most celebrated generals. Don’t forget it was Eric Holder’s Department of Justice conducting an investigation on Petraeus without anyone’s knowledge. Now, I do not excuse Gen. Petraeus and what he did, but let’s be realistic. The Democrat Party still worships a known serial sex offender, a former president. Such hypocrisy is laughable, and situational ethics is deplorable.
And so, SecDef Carter is poised to deliver the death blow, the coup de grace and decide on whether Gen. Petraeus should be demoted to Lieutenant General for an offense and behavior Democrats accept in Hillary and Bill Clinton.
As reported by Townhall.com, “Hillary Clinton’s emails on her unsecured, homebrew server contained intelligence from the U.S. government’s most secretive and highly classified programs, according to an unclassified letter from a top inspector general to senior lawmakers. Fox News exclusively obtained the text of the unclassified letter, sent Jan. 14 from Intelligence Community Inspector General I. Charles McCullough III. It laid out the findings of a recent comprehensive review by intelligence agencies that identified “several dozen” additional classified emails — including specific intelligence known as “special access programs” (SAP). That indicates a level of classification beyond even “top secret,” the label previously given to two emails found on her server, and brings even more scrutiny to the presidential candidate’s handling of the government’s closely held secrets…Intelligence from a “special access program,” or SAP, is even more sensitive than that designated as “top secret” – as were two emails identified last summer in a random sample pulled from Clinton’s private server she used as secretary of state.”
So here is my question: how does one demote a former secretary of state? If the Obama administration — because that’s who’s pondering this — is considering a demotion for Gen. Petraeus, then what happens with Hillary Clinton? And please, to the cheerleading progressive Democrats (i.e. socialists), spare me the whining; if this were a Republican administration official who was running for president, this would be front page everywhere. As stated, the hypocrisy is laughable.
My recommendation to Ash Carter and Obama, drop the facade, and admit the goal is to destroy Gen. Petraeus because you fear him — actually because you’re jealous of his courage and commitment to this nation, his proven valor. However, if you press this line of attack, the simple retort shall be, “what of Hillary?” And for the liberal progressive media which does such a fine job of not disclosing the “news” that doesn’t fit their ideological agenda — we shall ensure America is aware.
Hillary Clinton abandoned Americans to die, and lied about it. She has violated the law with her handling of classified information. But I guess she’s exactly what today’s Democrat Party finds acceptable.
