Well, we can certainly put DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and former Secretary of State and Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in the same category. Ok, I know what some of you are thinking, but not that. They’ve both struggled to answer the same question.

As reported by Fox News, “It seems to be the question Democratic Party figureheads don’t want to answer: What’s the difference between a Democrat and a socialist? Hillary Clinton, in an otherwise friendly interview on MSNBC, struggled to answer that question Tuesday when asked by host Chris Matthews.

At first, the Democratic presidential front-runner seemed to suggest the question should be directed at her rival in the race, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist.

“You see, I’m asking you,” Matthews countered. Clinton simply replied, “I’m not one.” Beyond that, she declined to explain the differences between the two.

“I can tell you what I am, I am a progressive Democrat … who likes to get things done,” Clinton said. “And who believes that we’re better off in this country when we’re trying to solve problems together. Getting people to work together. There will always be strong feelings and I respect that, from, you know, the far right, the far left, libertarians, whoever it might be, we need to get people working together.”

As you know the same über-liberal host asked the same question to Wasserman-Schultz, who flubbed the answer even worse.

So what IS the difference between a Democrat and a socialist? Well, one is an American political party but the other represents a philosophy of governance. And when you listen to Hillary Clinton’s self-categorization as a “progressive” Democrat, well, it’s time we revisit what these titles represent.

Last year, we took the time to present a thorough philosophical analsyis of what liberal progressive socialism is all about. Today’s self-described “liberals” are far away from the classical liberal as defined by John Locke. These post-modern liberals are nowhere near the champions of life, liberty, and property as Locke postulated. And as a matter of fact, when European communists sought to introduce themselves into America they realized that a little marketing/re-branding would be necessary, hence they adopted the moniker, “progressives”. And we know that our first “progressive” president was one Woodrow Wilson.

So let me reintroduce you to what is a socialist and what they embrace, please enjoy re-reading our post from last year. And at the end, ask yourself, is there a difference from a Democrat and a socialist? Not at all.
