We awoke Saturday morning to find out that our U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, Libya had been evacuated under the cover of darkness due to increased violence in that country. Now of course, you can’t assert that any of the consequences and collapse of order in Libya have anything to do with President Obama. Because if you make that call, then our liberal progressive friends will respond, “So what? You wanted Muammar Gaddafi in power?”
But that is of course a false argument, since we were told by Obama that the purpose for his unilateral intervention into Libya was because of a humanitarian crisis. Funny — and we don’t have one here in America on our southern border now?
However, let’s put aside all the partisan foolishness, after all Dennis Kucinich and I agreed Obama overstepped his bounds and violated the War Powers Act in Libya – but for what purpose? Well, we have a dead U.S. Ambassador, a dead State Department IT specialist, and two dead former U.S. Navy SEALS. And now, as Islamic totalitarian and jihadist militias battle forth, we have the embarrassing evacuation of our embassy. Apparently the “humanitarian crisis” hasn’t ended, but has been exacerbated to the advantage of Islamic terrorists.
But I just have to ask (again), whose side is Barack Hussein Obama on? Was Gaddafi a swell fella? Nope, but by facilitating his overthrow, Obama destabilized a nation for what purpose? He promoted Hosni Mubarak’s fall in Egypt only to support the Muslim Brotherhood’s rise — thankfully the Egyptian people and leadership rose counter to Obama’s desires. Now the question is whether or not the people and secular leadership in Libya will be able to recover from the mess Obama created.
You can debate the merits of the Iraq endeavor, but it did yield the defeat of Islamic terrorism and jihadists – until now, where we’re watching the rise of the Islamic State.
Two years ago we were told the Islamic terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya was because of an anti-Islam video. So should we now conclude we evacuated the embassy because of the sequel to the first video? You have to wonder, will the media press the administration on the merits of its actions in Libya? Or will this just ease past the 72-96 hour news cycle and we’ll just forget the whole episode? One thing is for certain, the Islamic jihadists will not forget and al-Qaida in the Maghreb and its “junior varsity” offshoots will use this as a propaganda piece. Maybe those white flags that flew over the iconic Brooklyn Bridge recently were symbolic of Obama’s America?
This report from Foxnews.com, sums it up nicely: “Due to the ongoing violence resulting from clashes between Libyan militias in the immediate vicinity of the U.S. Embassy in Tripoli, we have temporarily relocated all of our personnel out of Libya,” spokeswoman Marie Harf said.“The withdrawal underscored the Obama administration’s concern about the heightened risk to American diplomats abroad, particularly in Libya where memories of the deadly 2012 attack on the U.S. mission in the eastern city of Benghazi are still vivid and the political uproar over it remain fresh ahead of a new congressional investigation into the incident. A senior military official told Fox News the Pentagon has been advising the State Department leave the post for weeks.”
“Securing our facilities and ensuring the safety of our personnel are top department priorities, and we did not make this decision lightly,” Harf said. “Security has to come first. Regrettably, we had to take this step because the location of our embassy is in very close proximity to intense fighting and ongoing violence between armed Libyan factions.” I suppose none of this was a consideration back in 2012 when it seems Ansar al-Sharia was allowed to move in right next door to the Benghazi Special Mission Compound (SMC).”
So yes, we have yet another foreign policy failure from Barack Hussein Obama. But no worries, Obama can handle it all from Martha’s Vineyard after he does an executive order making a bunch of illegals into American citizens
And so it goes here in America, in what seems to be the land of the less free as it becomes the home of chaos — and I mean doggone every day!
