We’ve been discussing the adverse ramifications for Israel when it comes to Obama’s failures in the Middle East. Particularly we’ve addressed what could happen in Syria with the full fledged and open support by Iran for the regime of Bashar Assad.
We all remember Obama’s empty “red line” declaration along with his very intimidating “Assad must go” threat — hmm, tough talk from a weak and feckless individual. Strong men don’t give a doggone about rhetoric, they observe your actions. And for Iran, getting bankrolled by Barack speaks volumes! Maybe if someone told Obama that the Iranians are really members of the Tea Party or just plain ol’ Republicans he’d take a different stance. We all know ol’ Barack gets his dander up when it comes to his political opposition — his real enemy.
So now, thanks to Obama’s failed Middle East policy, Assad won’t be going anywhere. As a matter of fact, Russia and Iran have made it very clear that Assad will not be going anywhere under their watch. Vladimir Putin also told Turkey’s President Erdogan that Assad won’t be going anywhere. And now we have a mass of very adversarial forces on Israel’s northern border with Syria, known as the Golan Heights. Iran has deployed its terrorist organization, Quds Force, along with their Lebanese proxy army — another terrorist group — Hezbollah into Syria — they can do so since Obama fought to lift sanctions and recently showered them with laundered cash and illegally wired billions.
As reported by The Algemeiner, “The Syrian army and Lebanon-based Iranian proxy terrorist organization Hezbollah are coordinating a large-scale “anti-terrorism” operation in southern Syria, near the border with Israel in the Golan Heights, the semi-official Iranian news agency Fars reported on Monday. Anonymous “sources” quoted in the report said, “Hezbollah has deployed a large number of its forces at the Quneitra passage, which has connected the Syrian territories to the occupied Golan.”
According to the report, the purpose of the operation is to “end militancy” in the area adjacent to the border.
Anonymous “sources” quoted in the report said, “Hezbollah has deployed a large number of its forces at the Quneitra passage, which has connected the Syrian territories to the occupied Golan.”Fars is aligned with the regime of Islamic Republic, which backs Syrian President Bashar Assad against rebel forces — among them ISIS — in the country’s raging civil war. It claimed that late last month, Fatah al-Sham (the newly-formed al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group previously known as the al-Nusra Front) suffered a heavy death toll and its military hardware sustained major damage in Syrian Army troops’ attacks on their centers in Quneitra. Syrian army men targeted gatherings and concentration centers Fatah al-Sham near the village of Um Batna South of al-Ba’ath town, killing several terrorists and destroying three vehicles carrying a number terrorists and large volume of weapons and ammunition. On Sunday, as Reuters reported, the IDF confirmed that it had retaliated against “errant mortar fire” from Syria that hit the Israeli side of Golan Heights. The mortar fire caused no Israeli casualties. IAF jets responded by targeting “cannons of the Syrian regime.”
Now, let’s be very honest. Barack Obama’s relationship with Benyamin Netanyahu and Israel is the worst of any American president. We all know Obama deployed his campaign operatives to attempt to defeat Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s reelection bid last year. Forget the staged photo ops and press conferences; the abject disrespect shown to Netanyahu during his address to a joint session of Congress by Obama and the Democrats says it all.
And so here is Obama’s strategic play: do nothing about ISIS, other than the appearance of doing something. He has wholeheartedly outsourced our national security to Iran and others in order to run out the clock and claim victory over ISIS.
Russia has stepped into the situation and stabilized it for Assad, all to the chagrin of those “rebels” we said we supported. And with the absurdly dumb Iranian deal, we now have a new hegemony in the Middle East, flush with cash. The Iranians have been able to bolster their support to Assad by deploying the Quds Force, under the command of General Suleimani, and Hezbollah. These forces have set their sights, with Russian air power support, on eradicating any opposition to Assad — and that includes the folks we said we would support, a complete betrayal.
But under the guise of eliminating Sunni Islamic terrorists, the former Al Nusra front and ISIS, the Iranian-backed forces pose a threat to Israel.
The real objective here by Iran and Hezbollah is to clear the enemy out of the proximity of the Golan Heights and give themselves a foothold by which they can launch mortar and artillery assaults into Israel. And you can just bet that these two options will occur — either the Russians will provide air cover, or Iran will purchase more of the deadly and lethal S-300 surface to air missile systems into Syria, as they have done at the Fordow nuclear facility, making it very dangerous for Israeli combat aircraft attacks.
This is what you can expect very soon: a Netanyahu visit to Vladimir Putin. You can bet there have been phone calls already. Netanyahu will warn Putin of the dangerous game he’s playing and he’s making a deal with the devil in Iran. Putin is placing the security of Israel at risk, but Putin knows he holds the high ground — because Obama has left Israel and Netanyahu high and dry; he doesn’t have their back.
So, here’s Benyamin Netanyahu doing his best to safeguard his country without an ally. Putin knows that and will do his best to get Netanyahu to knuckle down and acquiesce to his demands — the trade is security, amidst the growing specter of Iranian influence.
What message does all of this send to the Kurds, whom Obama is abandoning to Turkey and Erdogan? What is the message to the Egyptians, for whom Obama has allowed a jihadist sanctuary to be established to their west in Libya? What is the message to Jordan, whom Obama refused to support in their aerial attacks against ISIS? What message does it send to our supposed best ally in the Middle East, Israel?
One word — betrayal — at the hands of the man who was never ready to be president, and for some “odd” reason allies himself with the enemy.
