SHOCK: I actually agree with a Democrat on this issue

There’s an old saying, “crap or get off the pot,” and it looks like the House of Representatives hit that point yesterday. Sadly, we found out the Democrat Party’s liberal progressives’ desire is to “cut and run” and leave someone else with the pile of crap — even though it was their President Obama who caused the debacle we now know today as Iraq and ISIS.

As reported by the Washington Times:

Lawmakers shot down a proposal Wednesday to pull all U.S. troops out of Iraq and Syria, saying that using that as a threat to force a vote on a war authorization is not the best way for the Congress to consider the conflict against the Islamic State.

The proposal from Rep. Jim McGovern, Massachusetts Democrat, failed by an overwhelming 139-288 vote, with one member voting present. It would have required the administration to end the U.S. involvement in Iraq and Syria, except to protect diplomatic facilities and personnel, if Congress did not pass a new Islamic State-specific authorization for the use of military force before the end of the year.

Rep. Ed Royce, California Republican, said taking all U.S. troops out of Iraq and Syria would give the Islamic State, also known as ISIS and ISIL, an opportunity to expand and commit even more barbaric acts on local civilians.

“ISIS is making too many gains, critical cities have fallen, but this resolution I believe would take us in the opposite direction of where U.S. policy should be,” Mr. Royce said on the House floor. “If the United States were to remove all of our forces from the theater as this resolution calls for, ISIS would surely grow stronger.”

I find it no surprise that the same party which abandoned South Vietnam — after the North Vietnamese signed onto a peace accord in Paris — would seek to do the same in this case. Instead of seeking a strategy, it seems the House Democrats’ objective is to obfuscate and find a way to bail out President Obama.

Consider the optics of yet another American retreat from Iraq in just the last four years. The ISIS propaganda machine would kick in full bore and global recruiting would explode. And the Obama administration could claim as a foreign policy success the creation of a new Islamic jihadist state.

We have a reluctant commander-in-chief whose indecisiveness — please, don’t try to tell me a drone strike is decisive — is causing horrific paralysis, with an entire region destabilized as a consequence. For the life of me, I can’t understand his reasoning for allowing the establishment of a savage, barbaric, Islamic state entity. What will it take for President Obama to admit that his campaign promise was wrong and take responsibility? Say what you will, but when the situation was deteriorating in Iraq, President Bush took decisive action to crush al-Qaida in Iraq. But somehow it seems President Obama is held to a different standard — and he knows that. Therefore, he feels no pressure to do anything whatsoever since the fawning, slobbering liberal progressive media gives him a pass.

Why? Is it because he’s the first black president and therefore we’re more interested in the wonder of the historical moment? Could it be the duplicitous double standard for liberal progressive elected officials has become so blatant? Are beheadings, crucifixions, raping and selling of women into slavery now accepted as the new normal under Barack Obama? Yes, it seems that politics outweigh moral courage. It appears the soft bigotry of low expectations has reached an all-time high with the liberal left of the Democrat party. The acceptable behaviors of eschewing responsibility, lying, abandoning Americans to die and gross incompetence are just par for the course from the new Democrat Party.

So where are all the women’s and gay groups — deaf-mute in their angst about the inhumane treatment of ISIS towards women and gays? Ah, as long as their guy is in the White House, no worries, we’ll just focus on killing babies and persecuting pizzeria owners who don’t support gay marriage. Everything is fine with women — young girls — being mass raped and gays being tossed off buildings. I call this situational political moral hypocrisy.

Mr. McGovern said lawmakers are “guilty of moral cowardice,” content to spend money — $9.1 million a day through this month — and put troops in harm, but refuse to step up and take responsibility for debating the war, which has been going on for nearly a year. This resolution, he said, gives House leadership “a deadline they can’t ignore.”

“If we’re going to continue to tell our armed forces that we expect them to fight and die in these wars, it seems to me the least we can do is stand up and vote to authorize these wars, or we should end them,” Mr. McGovern said on the House floor.

No, Rep. McGovern, it’s you and the president from your party who’re guilty of moral cowardice. Where was McGovern when Obama went in and unconstitutionally destabilized Libya? Let’s be honest, if ISIS were a conservative grassroots organization, Obama and the left would have a strategy to defeat it. Rep. McGovern, it is President Obama who’s put our troops in harm’s way — al-Qaida in Iraq was defeated. And I’m quite certain, Jimmy boy, you were one of the liberal progressive lefties cheering the complete pull out of American troops from Iraq.

So it is YOU, sir, who’s guilty and YOU, sir, must take responsibility for the foolish and idiotic decision resulting in the current morass you’re now trying to evade. Hate to tell you Jimbo, but our men and women already died on the ground you and President Obama have given back to the enemy. You cared so little about their service and sacrifice that you spit in their eye — and now you speak of moral cowardice. Look in the mirror.

My challenge to you, Rep. McGovern and President Obama, is to develop a strategy to defeat ISIS — you know, that “jayvee team” you allowed to fester and grow. Running away isn’t an option — regardless of what General Valerie Jarrett commands.

At least there’s one Democrat for whom I have complete regard and respect:

Rep. Eliot Engel, New York Democrat, agreed that it’s past time for Congress to consider a war authorization to cover the current mission against the Islamic State, but said threatening to pull out all troops to force Republican leadership to hold a vote is like “cutting off your nose to spite your face.”

President Obama and the Democrats grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory and now they want someone else to fix their inane and inept decision in Iraq. This is just another reason why we should NEVER allow another far-left, liberal progressive into the White House or to control the U.S. House of Representatives or Senate when there is a vile, threatening enemy on the rise.
