As we discussed yesterday, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reports that Obamacare will reduce the size of America’s labor force by some 2.5 million full time equivalent (FTE) workers by 2024.
The response from the White House and its propaganda mouthpiece, the New York Times, that this is a good thing is simply appalling. I am reminded of the Superman comic book Bizarro world where everything is in reverse. And so it seems in the Obama administration, where work is bad, staying at home for government subsidies is good, and the “fundamental transformation” advances.
Why work when you can just stay at home and receive your guaranteed government income? Every day we move closer to the end goal of the Cloward-Piven strategy.
Avik Roy of Forbes provides his take on this bizarre assertion emanating from the White House,
Trapped in a job? So now President Obama will liberate us from the toils of actually earning a living by just paying us to stay home and produce nothing. And exactly how, more importantly who, will be generating the resources to free us from being trapped in a job? Shall we just borrow more money ad nauseum, ad infinitum? Apparently yes, which is why Obama will go down as the president who doubled the nation’s debt on his watch. Remember, it was $10.67 trillion upon his arrival, it’s now $17.3 trillion — and for those low information voters, $10.67 trillion was the total amount accrued by every previous president. The other option is that we shall just tax those who work, build, create and innovate in order to meet the progressive socialist utopian dream.
The CBO wasn’t responsible for the most amazing thing that happened yesterday. That title belongs to the Obama White House, where Press Secretary Jay Carney claimed that 2.5 million Americans leaving the workforce was a good thing, because they would no longer be “trapped in a job.”
So what will be the incentive to work?
On one hand, the government, aka “Uncle Sugar,” will pay you to stay at home and be free. On the other hand the government, by force and coercion, will tax those still possessing a work ethic — those who actually make an economy work, in order to feed the beast of the welfare nanny-state and the dependency society. It is the seminal battle between the opportunity and dependency society, pitting the producers against the takers, and if the percentage of takers grows beyond the producers, then the society collapses. There is no incentive to work. There is no incentive to produce. The society collapses.
Alexis de Tocqueville summed it up in the 1830s, in his book, Democracy in America, but the original quote came from Alexander Fraser Tytler:
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.
The grand experiment in liberty, freedom, and democracy known as the American Republic stands at 237 years since its Declaration of Independence. It seems that we are on the path described by Tytler. His words certainly seem prescient and disconcerting for these times.
So what is the true purpose of Obamacare? Apparently according to White House spokesperson Jay Carney, it’s to destroy the foundation upon which America is built — a hearty work ethic — and usher in economic bondage to the central government.
I shall be a slave to no man and those of you who choose to be sadly threaten the American DNA, which until now, flowed with liberty and freedom for future generations. I will not live in Obama’s bizarro world. I will fight liberal progressive socialism and ensure our nation thrives with courage and liberty. Who will join me to say, “Molon Labe!”
