I continue to be amazed that the United States is sitting at a negotiating table with the world’s leading sponsor of Islamic terrorism. We are moving beyond a repeat of the Neville Chamberlain moment to something that borders on the insane. There is no visible indicator that Iran can be a trusted agent when it comes to its hegemonic ambitions. And the false narrative of “the only other alternative is war against Iran “– well, they’ve been in that state since 1979, when another weak liberal progressive president enabled the Islamic revolution. Funny thing, both Carter and Obama will be remembered for the American hostages they’ve allowed to he held by Iran.
So the latest revelation emanating from Iran should come as no surprise. As reported by my cohorts at Townhall.com via the New York Times, “With only one month left before a deadline to complete a nuclear deal with Iran, international inspectors have reported that Tehran’s stockpile of nuclear fuel increased about 20 percent over the last 18 months of negotiations, partially undercutting the Obama administration’s contention that the Iranian program had been “frozen” during that period.”
“The extent to which Iran’s stockpile has increased was documented in a report issued Friday by the International Atomic Energy Agency…The overall increase in Iran’s stockpile poses a major diplomatic and political challenge for President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, who flew back to the United States from Geneva on Monday for treatment of a broken leg he suffered in a bicycling accident, as they enter a 30-day push to try to complete an agreement by the end of June. In essence, the administration will have to convince Congress and America’s allies that Iran will shrink its stockpile by 96 percent in a matter of months after a deal is signed, even while it continues to produce new material and has demonstrated little success in reducing its current stockpile.”
The Iranians, actually the Supreme Leader, state they’re not going to submit to inspections on their military installations. They are not going to allow any “snap,” in other words, surprise inspections. They’re demanding immediate lifting of economic sanctions — which means billions of dollars will flow right back to Iran and once Aladdin’s genie gets out of that bottle, good luck reinstating sanctions once other nations see lucrative economic deals, especially in the area of energy.
And recently President Obama stated to an Israeli TV interview he didn’t even believe a military option was viable — “Katie bar the door.” We’ve been told Iran’s enrichment was “frozen” — well, this ain’t no Disney movie. The Iranian belligerence should be the case-closed evidence that these talks MUST end.Instead we look like the desperate nerdy guy who will debase himself in every way to get a popular girl to notice him.
We must also realize we’re already into a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, as we wrote here based on a report from the Times of Israel regarding Saudi Arabia’s efforts to buy nukes from Pakistan. We’re at the highest level of respect in the world? Gimme a break. If that were the case, Iran would not be on the verge of getting the deadly S-300 anti-aircraft missile defense system from Putin’s Russia.America is being intentionally deceived, as Townhall writes, “This past January, Obama boasted that the regime’s nuclear program had been “halted” by the interim agreement, with its stockpiles “reduced.” The Washington Post’s fact-checker awarded the president ‘Three Pinocchios’ for that statement at the time, which came before this latest development.”
If this was a mistaken claim, that’s one thing but it appears to have been a purposeful lie by the president of the United States. We have already seen what happens when Obama bases his national security strategy on campaign promises. What will be the result of a foreign policy based upon lies and deceit?
The Iranians have stated they will NOT ship any nuclear fuels out of their country. So what happens with the enriched uranium they’ve produced during the time of the negotiations? And if anyone tells me this is about “peaceful domestic purposes” — well, there’s dry land near Lake Texoma for sale. The sad reality is that Iran is playing President Obama the court jester while President Obama is playing the American people the fool. It is a horrific game of manipulation and who ends up losing in the end?
That remains to be seen — but for right now, Amir Hekmati, Jason Reznian, Saeed Abedini, and Robert Levinson are lost. And that’s why, when the acolytes of the Obama administration chime on about “never leaving an American behind,” I just shake my head in disgust — and amazement. But mostly disgust.
