My personal message for this Good Friday…

I just wanted to take a few moments to reflect with you on this day, Good Friday and share the song by Big Daddy Weave describing what today, Good Friday, is all about: redemption.

It’s the day when our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, offered Himself up as a sacrifice for us to be redeemed. All of us have sinned and fallen short of the grace of God, we know that, and God certainly knew that. So instead of being bound by the law, and having to go through the rituals, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that those who believe would not perish but have everlasting life — eternal life.

Since the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, mankind has struggled to find the right relationship with God. There has been a God shaped hole in all of us, and many times we try to fill that void with the creations of man — and we fall short. So we have a Savior who, by His stripes we are healed, not a physical healing, but an intangible spiritual healing — of which we should not be ashamed of expressing, regardless of what the world says.

You see, the real crux of being a Christian is as the banner in the West family home church, Community Christian, in Tamarac, Florida reads: “No Perfect People Allowed.”

It’s about knowing your faults, failures, and shortcomings, but realizing that by the Grace that was established on this day some 2,000 years ago, we can all be redeemed by that precious forgiving blood that was shed. Indeed, the Amazing Grace, my chains are gone, I’ve been set free, my God my Savior has ransomed me, and like a flood, His mercy reigns, unending love, Amazing Grace.

For those who are hurting, take time to listen to the words of the song “Redeemed” and find the courage to persevere. We should not be sad and despondent on this day. We should find strength in the humble understanding of what this day means, the propitiation of our sins that enables us to reconnect with our Heavenly Father.

And the good thing about it, unlike the individual mandate of Obamacare, there is no fine, tax, or coercion. It’s all about your free will, the choice of eternal life…but there are consequences if you choose not to accept that free gift.

Blessed Good Friday to y’all, and thank you, Jesus Christ, for enduring the pain and agony for an unworthy fella like me.
