The recent Supreme Court (SCOTUS) Hobby Lobby decision not only has the liberal progressive Left angry – but supported by a complicit media, has them spouting even more lies than usual.
Earlier this week Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid attacked the decision as threatening, particularly as it was made by five white males. We had to remind mindless Reid that one of those justices is black — just another example of racism on the Left.
And here’s another -ism, this time from House minority leader, Nancy Pelosi.
On Thursday, Pelosi said, “We should be afraid of this court, that five guys are determining which contraceptives are legal or not. It’s not her boss’ business.”
(Really? I thought Five Guys were in the hamburger business). But Fox News host Megyn Kelly, gave Pelosi a bit of a smack down, charging the House minority leader “guilty” of sexism after her comments, according to Politico.
“The latest installment of misleading hysteria comes from the House minority leader,” Kelly said Thursday on “The Kelly File.” Kelly’s comments came after Pelosi called the ruling in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby “a frightening one.”
Politico reports that Kelly went after Pelosi’s remarks, saying, “Nancy Pelosi either doesn’t know what she’s talking about, or she’s intentionally misleading you,” and called the gendered attack an “attempt to stoke resentment.”
I would say Pelosi is an unscrupulous and deceitful politician but she certainly understands the ins and outs of low information voter manipulation.
SCOTUS gender should be of no concern to Pelosi. Their raison d’être is to interpret laws against our rule of law, the U.S. Constitution. I am quite sure Pelosi had no problem with all those men who decided in favor of Roe v Wade.
This is just another example of the hypocrisy and desperation of liberal progressives in attacking those who made the decision and then lying about the nature of the decision. It was narrowly defined as closely-held companies, as we explained here. For companies where a majority of the stock or ownership is held by a family unit, their First Amendment rights of religious freedom shall not be violated.
However, leave it up to the Left to distort the truth and make it seem that women’s contraception has been outlawed. That is hardly the case. There are some 20 forms of contraception available, only four of which were deemed abortion inducing — and in the Hobby Lobby case, it was ruled that the Obama contraception mandate cannot force the issue with those four contraception methods.
Instead we have liberal progressive socialists mad, trying to parry this into a fundraising and political issue for the midterm elections — good luck when the Obamacare insurance premiums hit this fall.
Megyn Kelly, an astute lawyer, called Pelosi’s comments a “gross misrepresentation” of the Hobby Lobby ruling.
“News flash: all birth control was legal before this decision remains legal today,” Kelly said. “The high court simply found that a religious freedom law which was co-sponsored by none other than — wait for it — Nancy Pelosi, sometimes protects corporations from being forced to violate their religious beliefs.”
Maybe that sentence is just too complex for progressive socialists and their droning followers to understand? And therefore it’s just much easier to “MSU” – the first word being “make.”
Pelosi’s office did not immediately respond to request for comment — of course not. As Forrest Gump said, “stupid is as stupid does.” And between Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, there’s plenty of that going around.
Yes, we ideologically disagree, but doggone, at least tell the truth!
