ISIS just took a devastating blow; this could change EVERYTHING…

The terrorists formerly known as “the jayvee team” are once again showing themselves not to be so. ISIS has displayed the capacity to hold terrain and they have a designated capitol, Raqqa in Syria. They’ve generated revenue — thanks to our recalcitrance in disrupting their flow of black market oil. We reported here this week on the capture of the head of the ISIS chemical weapons unit — a former acolyte of Saddam Hussein. And don’t forget the indecisive John Kerry who can’t determine if the intended slaughter of Christians by ISIS is genocide or not. It’s a sad way that history repeats itself, and here we are again with the United States of America on the wrong side.

And now we have further evidence of exactly how well organized ISIS is with their global recruiting efforts. As reported by Fox News, “Germany’s federal criminal police said Thursday they are in possession of files containing personal data on members of the extremist Islamic State group and believe them to be authentic.

The announcement came after Britain’s Sky News reported it had obtained 22,000 Islamic State files on the border with Turkey and Syria, files that detail ISIS fighters’ real names, where they were from, telephone numbers, and even names of those who sponsored and recruited the militants.

Sky said the files were passed on to them on a memory stick stolen from the head of Islamic State’s internal security police by a former fighter who had grown disillusioned with the group. Germany’s Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reported it had also obtained “dozens” of similar files on the Turkey-Syria border, where it said Islamic State files and videos were widely available from anti-ISIS Kurdish fighters and also members of the Islamic State group itself.”

Though the significance of these files is yet to be gauged, they could be the largest yet treasure trove of documents found on ISIS and the most significant leak on its past and present fighters and operations across the Mideast.

They could also shape the campaign against the extremist group, which emerged from Al Qaeda in Iraq. The cache, exposing its members and their families, could undermine its future ability to recruit and inspire would-be members.

US Army Col. Steve Warren, spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition against the Islamic State, said the information could help the coalition fight the Islamic State group by aiding in a crack-down on ISIS’s foreign fighter networks.

“This would allow the law enforcement apparatus across the world to become much more engaged and begin to help do what we can to stem this flow of foreign fighters — so we’re hopeful that its accurate and if so we certainly plan to do everything we can to help,” he said.”

The files are actually 23-question “job applications” for ISIS. NBC reports The questions start off mundane — name, nickname, date of birth, education — and then shift to the more sinister.

Fields ask about previous fighting experience, blood type, special skills, level of obedience and whether the applicant is interested in fighting or becoming a suicide attacker.

The forms also ask for “countries traveled” to clarify the route to ISIS’ caliphate and who can vouch for the recruit.

This is such an important find to begin the process of dismantling the ISIS global recruiting network. If international agencies such as INTERPOL can piece together this trail and learn the means by which resources are funneled and through which transit routes, this provides a key strategic objective — interdicting the flow of men, materiel, and resources to ISIS.

My only trepidation is that we’ll stall and not be aggressive in shutting down and cutting off ISIS’ flow of foreign fighters and reinforcements. This information will enable us to trace and track the fertile grounds ISIS targets for recruiting and once we confirm these jihadist recruiting centers, we can ill afford to play some dangerous game of “political correctness.” If there are Muslim clerics, organizations and individuals aiding ISIS, the goal is simple — they should be deported or even better, get a nice room in GITMO — if they are not US citizens. I fully support someone who is a U.S. citizen finding him- or herself spending a very long time in prison, via due process.

The time has come for us in the Western world to go into the den of snakes and eradicate them. I grow tired of hearing the inane argument about freedom of religion or free speech. When one’s faith belief and verbiage is promoting acts that undermine civil society, that is sedition, not free speech, and of a citizen, treason.

And we have to become serious and make it law that any citizen of a country that departs to engage in Islamic jihadist terrorist actions has lost their citizenship. They are then declared an unlawful enemy combatant that has surrendered and abdicated their rights. And there must be consequences for the friends and families who enable these individuals to travel and join these Islamic jihadist groups.

We in America should be eternally grateful for the father of the “underwear bomber” who provided information about his son. We must have more family members who will be forthcoming and provide information on those who have a shift in attitude and behaviors, accepting militant Islamic jihadism.

There must be no more of the “this was a surprise” or “he was a good boy” — sure, right before he drove down and shot five Marines and Sailors at a Naval Reserve facility in Chattanooga. Or right after coming back from Saudi Arabia with some whack job jihadi “fiancée” and then murders 14 and wounds another 21 in San Bernardino.

Getting intelligence is only good if you exploit what you’ve found — and that doesn’t mean some public announcement either. These documents should lead to many a “knock on the door” and finally allow us to seize the initiative. The question will be, do we really want to drain the swamp or try to build a fence around it?
