The liberal progressive left has mounted its new insidious political theme — “black lives matter.” It follows along with hope and change, forward, war on women, fairness, fair share, occupy Wall Street, and the whole host of focus group-tested sound bites. I find it unconscionable that no one on the left cares about black lives mattering when it comes to nearly 16 million black babies aborted — or the perspective of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger when it came to black lives in general.
So let us talk about AMERICAN lives and whether or not they matter — especially when lined up against the issue of illegal immigration. I’ve sat back and observed the most recent test of American lives and illegal immigration and it must be addressed.
As reported by the New York Daily News, “A man who entered the country illegally beat a 64-year-old California woman to death with a hammer after raping her inside her own home, police said — the latest incident to fuel a mounting fury against illegal immigration. Marilyn Pharis, a US Air Force veteran, died eight days after suffering serious head injuries in the brutal attack, Santa Maria police said.
Her death comes one month after a San Francisco woman was gunned down on a popular pier. Another undocumented [illegal] immigrant is charged in the July death of Kate Steinle. Victor Aureliano Martinez — a 29-year-old undocumented immigrant who was arrested six times in 15 months — faces first-degree murder, mayhem, torture and rape charges in Pharis’ death, KEYT reported. Just two weeks before the fatal attack, he was arrested for possessing meth, police said. “These charges carry the possibility of the death penalty or life without possibility of parole,” Santa Barbara County District Attorney Joyce Dudley said at a Friday press conference.
A second suspect, 20-year-old Jose Fernando Villagomez, also faces murder and sexual assault charges, police said. Villagomez is a legal resident of the U.S. Police said Pharis was sleeping in her Santa Maria home when the two broke in around 10 a.m. on July 24. They sexually assaulted her, strangled her and beat her in the head with a hammer, police said. The attackers fled the scene, and Pharis called police. Officers quickly tracked down Martinez in a nearby home. Villagomez was nabbed days later on a probation violation, CNN reported.”First, consider that there is a move out in California to outlaw the use of the word “alien” when it comes to addressing illegal immigrants. We already know that the liberal progressive left wants to eradicate the use of the word “illegal” and as you saw in the quoted portion above, the word “undocumented” is the PC preferred reference. How is it that we show more indignation over references and names for those who have entered our country “illegally” rather than eradicating the issue of sanctuary cities and upholding the rule of law and respecting legal immigration and immigrants? How can it be that Martinez was arrested SIX times in less than 18 months and still be out free to roam our streets? Someone failed Ms. Pharis — as well as Kate Steinle. And now we shall have the debate about whether or not the death penalty is appropriate? Martinez and Villagomez are two individuals who represent a constituency that has little regard or respect for our laws — and an American life was lost due to their disdain for the rule of American law. So why should we contemplate their lives anymore than they contemplated breaking into the home of Ms. Pharis and forcing a 64-year-old woman to endure such barbaric brutality? God rest her soul as she at least had the strength to ensure her assailants were identified and apprehended.
So does the life of Marilyn Pharis matter more than some misguided sense of social justice for criminal illegal immigrants, those who continue to spit not just on our rule of law, but upon the lives of Americans? We need to come to a realization that when you cross the line of the rule of law in order to take another life, your life matters somewhat less.
Ponder how we just witnessed a jury in Colorado unable to bring about a death penalty sentence for one James Holmes, the Aurora movie theater murderer, who killed 12 and wounded another 70. What are we still waiting for regarding Nidal Hasan who shouted “Allahu Akhbar” while fatally gunning down 13 American Soldiers and DA civilians and wounding another 30 Soldiers. What does it take for us as a civil society to remember the lives that truly matter, those innocently snuffed out?
All lives do matter, the innocent lives in the womb matter too — not for dismemberment for body parts. All lives do matter, the innocent lives watching a movie. All lives matter, little seven-year-old Amari Brown of Chicago gunned down in a gang exchange. All lives matter, the Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen stationed on our military installations, at reserve centers, and in our recruiting stations. All lives matter, that of a young woman out walking with her dad. All lives matter, that of a woman, a veteran, asleep in her bed.
Sorry, the lives of those who take away those brilliant lights do not matter, and more so those here illegally. In the case of the criminal illegal immigrant murderers of Kate Steinle, Marilyn Pharis, and many others, it is not about political posturing and appeasement to special interests. This is about the lives of Americans — and that, folks, is all that should matter.
