Trump is the 2nd most admired person in America; I’m SHOCKED who’s number 1…

Ok, call me what you want but something just happened that I just do not get. Gallup just did a survey in America asking who is the most admired person in the world.

I can think of a lot of folks, perhaps like Egyptian President al-Sisi and Malala Yousafzai, considering what they’ve stood against. I would have probably given the accolade to the Christian men and women in the Middle East — the Coptics, Assyrians, Chaldeans, and yes the Yazidis, who are facing a dedicated religious genocide 00 no let me put it bluntly, extermination — of their existence. But this is whom the American people chose.

As reported by Politico, “Americans named Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama as their most admired woman and man in the world in 2015, with Donald Trump earning the same share of admiration as Pope Francis, according to the results of the latest Gallup survey released Monday.

On the list of most admired women, the Democratic presidential front-runner earned 13 percent and was at the top of the annual poll for a record 20th time, seven more times than former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt.

Obama earned 17 percent on the men’s side, his eighth time atop the list, tying for second most with former presidents Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan. Former President Dwight D. Eisenhower was named the most admired man 12 times.

Coming in second to Clinton on the list of women: 2014 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai with 5 percent, followed by Oprah Winfrey and first lady Michelle Obama tied with 4 percent. The poll was conducted Dec. 2-6, surveying 824 adults nationwide via landlines and cellphones. The overall margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.”

Ok, I guess I should feel a little at ease since there were only 824 folks surveyed. If I were to get the names of these 824, I’d send them all the book 13 Hours and I’d take them to see the movie “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.”

Afterwards, I’d show them the repeated interviews where Obama and Hillary Clinton referred to what happened at Benghazi as the results of a video. I would take these 824 and introduce them to U.S. Marine Corps Major Jason Brezler who, because he sent classified information over his personal email to warn Marines, is being punished for doing so. I’d sit these 824 down and present them with a policy briefing that shows how we’re in the worst economic recovery and allow them to speak with small business owners — you know, those folks who “didn’t build that.”

There is something very wrong in American culture when known liars are commended as being the most admired in the world. When we fail to remember what leadership truly is, we make choices with horrific consequences.

We once admired bravery, courage, resolve, commitment, and principle. Today we admire celebrity and pop culture — and what ends up being lost is a sense of American pride and values.

Consider the young man who plays basketball for the University of Florida who was born with one hand. He recently scored his first points ever in a game — that is to be admired. Abby Wambach, American retired soccer player, coach, two-time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA Women’s World Cup champion,
who announced her retirement and in a TV ad said “forget me” — that is admirable considering what she has achieved.

Here’s hoping next year we’ll make an admirable choice for the next president of these United States of America. Not someone who sets the bar insidiously low and advances defeatism rather than the ideal of American exceptionalism. Someone who can inspire us all to “be all that we can be” as a nation.
