This week potential presidential candidate and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush was heckled at an event by a delusional liberal leftist who claimed that his older brother President George W. Bush had created ISIS.
You may also be aware of the firestorm created by Jeb Bush’s statement in an interview with Fox News Megyn Kelly regarding “knowing what we know now” whether he would have authorized an invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Instead of the twelve-year-old hypothetical questions, perhaps we should be asking, “do you agree with President Obama’s decision to withdraw ALL troops from Iraq?”
Even White House talking head Eric Schultz on Friday was trying to spin the truth and tell us that ISIS’ momentum has been stymied. Yep, the jayvee team is supposedly defeated, destroyed, and its morale down — that is ridiculous.
And perhaps this is the reason why four Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leaders blew off President Obama’s Middle East summit this week.As reported by Fox News, “Islamic State militants on Friday captured the main government compound in Ramadi, the capital of Iraq’s western Anbar province, after fierce clashes with security forces. Ramadi’s Mayor Dalaf al-Kubaisi says the militants raised the black flag of ISIS over the area after troops were forced to withdraw from the compound, which houses most of the city’s government offices. He said the IS militants, who also seized other parts of the city, are now attacking the Anbar Operation Command, the military headquarters for the province. Dalaf said at least 10 policemen were killed in the fighting and dozens of other security forces were wounded. He said IS militants killed several captured policemen and army officers in the city, where most civilians have fled. U.S. troops saw some of the heaviest fighting of the eight-year Iraq intervention in Anbar, and Ramadi was a major insurgent stronghold. The IS group captured the nearby city of Fallujah and parts of Ramadi in January 2014, months before its main sweep across northern and western Iraq.” Why would the GCC leaders want to sit with President Obama, who is watching the scourge of Islamic jihadism overtake major parts of the world, especially the Middle East, and sit at a negotiation table with Iran? In other words, Obama is enabling Sunni Islamic and Shiite Islamic terrorists to thrive. Where is the support? If we supposedly have the venerable air armada patrolling the skies, how is it that ISIS is able to maneuver and go on the offense?
If I could find the heckler who verbally assaulted Jeb Bush, I’d remind him, regardless of what he personally believes, Ramadi was peaceful and al-Qaeda in Iraq had been defeated under President George W. Bush. So what has happened? I just find it unconscionable that so many in the liberal progressive media continue to provide President Obama a “get out of jail free card” on the debacle which is his foreign policy. Again, why not allow the persecuted Christians and other religious minorities to be resettled to the United States?
The importance of Al Anbar province cannot be dismissed. It is the largest, and strategically now affords a logistical line of communication for ISIS.
Fox News writes, “The IS assault on the Ramadi government compound began with three nearly simultaneous suicide car bombings. Two Humvees previously seized from the Iraqi army were used in Friday’s attack, al-Kubaisi said. The head of Anbar’s provincial council, Sabah Karhout, appealed to the central government in Baghdad to send reinforcements and urged the U.S.-led coalition to increase airstrikes against the militants in Ramadi. “The city is undergoing vicious attack by (ISIS) and we are in dire need of any kind of assistance,” Karhout said.”
Instead of the gotcha hypothetical questions, the media needs to be asking what will these potential presidential candidates do — as they inherit a mess from a failed foreign and national security policy of the past eight years.
We can debate all the day long about what happened twelve years ago — but sadly, we WILL have to reengage and redeploy to a region that had been won. And the simple approval of a request for 15,000 troops would have precluded the morass, this savage and barbaric tragedy playing out before our eyes.
Then again, maybe these lives don’t matter to liberal progressives, since there’s no political gain to be had.
