Come see me tonight in Dallas!

Greetings from Addison, Texas, just outside of Dallas proper. I’m here for the next two days at the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) for my orientation and transfer of authority (TOA) in preparation to take the helm as the new CEO for this organization.

NCPA is a stalwart free market economics conservative policy think tank – it’s been in existence for 31 years. Some of its impeccable claims to fame are the Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Roth IRAs — of course under the current administration and its “we-have-to-pass-the-bill-to-find-out-what’s-in-it” Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare, HSAs are one of the 20 areas now taxed.

Therein lies why this organization is so vital, and why I seek to elevate its attention and support. This is a critical time for focused serious constitutional conservatives — truly classical liberals — to make an impact on policies that will advance America’s growth, opportunity, and promise.

The title of my book is Guardian of the Republic and it’s also a title I personally take to heart. While I’ve been on the kinetic battlefield, the ideological battlefield is just as important to the future of our country.

In these next two days, I’ll get the chance to receive a full situation update as to NCPAs current policy focus, meet with the staff and lay the groundwork for the way ahead, meet with many key local donors, and co-host a monthly luncheon featuring Washington Examiner writer, Byron York, to discuss the post-midterm election environment.

Next week Angela heads out to Dallas for the real important duty of finding her Texas dream home — and we’ll be maintaining our home in Plantation, Florida. After all, that’s where our girls, Aubrey and Austen, grew up.

If you’re in the area, I invite you to please drop by the NCPA welcoming reception this evening from 5-7pm at the NCPA headquarters — please call ahead and let them know.

The work NCPA does and will continue into 2015 and beyond cannot be made possible without your support. I’ll be doing much travel across the country advocating for the policy center and our work — which is integral to sustaining the American dream for subsequent generations.

Why is policy important?

I was just reading how private sector CEOs are going to sue over Obamacare because they are being sued by the Obama administration’s Equal Opportuntity Employment Commmission because of their compliance with certain Obamacare mandates. Sounds rather confusing, right?

As reported by the Washington Times, “Top U.S. CEOs who supported the White House on the Affordable Care Act are livid over new lawsuits by the Obama administration in response to certain workplace wellness programs. Employers are now threatening to align themselves with Obamacare opponents because of the litigation, sources told Reuters Saturday. Most major U.S. corporations have backed the health care reforms despite some weak elements, due to their support for wellness programs that encourage healthy habits to curb health care costs.”

“A bipartisan provision in the 2010 health care reform law allows employers to reward employees who participate in wellness programs and penalize those who don’t. But the administration’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has recently filed lawsuits challenging the wellness programs at Honeywell International and two smaller companies. “The fact that the EEOC sued is shocking to our members,” said Maria Ghazal, vice-president and counsel at the Business Roundtable, a group of chief executives of more than 200 large U.S. corporations, Reuters reported.”

This is why now more than ever America needs a strong, principled, and dedicated national policy center such as NCPA that will meticulously analyze measures such as Obamacare — and remember that many of the mandates and precepts have been delayed.

Imagine the impact of the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) will have on MEDICARE pricing. What we want to do at NCPA is engage, inspire, and enlighten the American electorate — we are indeed guardians of the Republic.

It’s not enough that the work of NCPA is known widely in the DC and political circles – it’s my objective that the work of NCPA becomes conversation at the Waffle House and at kitchen tables all over our nation.

We’ll continue to press and promote the best possible policy for tax reform in order to generate growth in our small businesses — the backbone of our economy. We’ll carefully assess the Dodd-Frank bill and its lasting impact on small community banks which are the lifeblood to our small businesses — does the return of Glass-Steagall make sense?

There’s a reason why we’re seeing energy prices fall at the gas pump — new and improved drilling techniques and processes. We want to ensure that regulatory policies emanating from agencies like the EPA and BLM do not stymie this successful endeavor, which is also leading to better economic opportunities — just check out Cushing, Oklahoma.

We’ll take a close look at the exploding mandatory spending side of our federal budget, which is now a little over 60 percent of our spending. We must develop sustainable policy solutions for our retirement programs — or else.

In every aspect of our analysis, the fundamentals of limited government, fiscal responsibility, individual sovereignty, and free market/free enterprise economics will be our bedrock.

Lastly, we can achieve all this, but if we do not ensure the number one priority of the federal government is maintained – that is, to provide for the common defense — it will all be for naught. But we must restore “peace through strength” in a fiscally responsible manner. NCPA will expand into these areas to analyze national security policy that meets the threat environment of the 21st century battlefield of non-state and state belligerents and adversaries.

My vision for NCPA is to be “America’s Think Tank” and that vision can only be successful if you join with us. Follow us at our website, www.ncpa.org. Watch us as we expand our social media connection. Join with us in making sure we don’t become the first generation that leaves a less exceptional America for its children and grandchildren. I’m looking forward to January 2, 2015 and a new chapter in my life — in the continuing book of service, sacrifice, and commitment to our Constitutional Republic.

Steadfast and Loyal.
